Domes are easier than they look
Build from the bottom ring upward. The widest layer sits on your walls, and each layer above steps inward by one or two blocks. The pale ghost of the previous layer keeps everything centred, which is the part that usually drifts when people build domes freehand.
Leave the top open until last if you are working in survival — it is far easier to place the final cap from inside on a block of scaffolding than to try to reach it from the outside.

How do I build a dome in Minecraft?
A dome is the top half of a sphere. Set the width you need, then build upward one layer at a time from the widest ring at the bottom. Each layer above is a slightly smaller circle.
How many blocks does a dome need?
Far fewer than people expect, because a hollow dome is only a shell. The counter above shows the exact total and how many full stacks that is, so you can gather before you start.
Can I make a flatter or taller dome?
Yes. Turn off Perfect dome and set the height independently of the width. A low height gives a shallow roof; a height close to the width gives a proper half sphere.
What is the best size for a base roof?
Domes of 15 to 25 blocks wide cover most small builds and still look round. Above 40 the curve is very smooth but the block count climbs quickly, so check the counter first.
