Sharpness in Minecraft
Adds flat melee damage to every hit, no matter what you are fighting. In Java the bonus is 0.5 x level + 0.5, so Sharpness V adds 3 damage.

Is Sharpness worth it?
The default damage pick. Choose it unless you fight one mob type almost exclusively.
Getting Sharpness onto your gear
You can roll Sharpness straight from an enchanting table with 15 bookshelves, or trade for the book from a librarian villager. Applying it from a book costs 1 level per level of the enchantment, before the anvil’s prior work penalty is added.
