Treasure only — trade for it from a librarian villager. The most valuable enchantment in the game.
Getting Mending onto your gear
Mending cannot be rolled at an enchanting table at any bookshelf count. You need a book from loot, trading, fishing or bartering, then an anvil. Because it always arrives as a book, combine it with your other books first and apply the finished book to the item last — that keeps the prior work penalty down.
Work out the cheapest order for a full set with the Minecraft enchantment calculator — it will tell you which books to pair up first and flag any step that would trip the “Too Expensive” limit.
